150th Anniversary of the Arrival of the Servite Friars to London.

This weekend the Servite Province of the Isles celebrates the arrival in London in 1864 of two Italian friars, Frs. Bosio and Morini, to establish the first Servite presence in the English speaking world. After some years in temporary accommodation the friars built the Church of Our Lady of Dolours on Fulham Road in London, still a Servite and parish church to this day. On this Sunday Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster, will celebrate Mass in Fulham Road church to give thanks for those years of Servite presence in the Diocese. He will be joined by our Prior General, Fr Gottfried M. Wolff osm, the Prior Provincial of the Province of the Isles, Fr. Colm McGlynn osm and many Prior Provincials from across the world. Other friars who served in the parish will also be present including Frs. Bernard Thorne, osm, Jim Mulherin, osm and Fr. Dermot MacNeice, osm, formerly Parish Priest in Fulham Road, who initiated and oversaw much of the restoration work that has been accomplished in the church. The Servite Secular Order in Marley will be represented by Bernadette Burns, ossm and Phil Clarke, ossm. We rejoice and give thanks at this historic moment in the Servite Province of the Isles.

The Monthly Collection for St. Vincent de Paul will be taken up after all masses this weekend 13th/14th September.   Your ongoing generosity is very much appreciated
