Today Sunday the 19th October we will give thanks for our beautiful     summer by celebrating a HARVEST FESTIVAL.    Gifts of non-perishable foodstuffs     brought by parishioners will be donated to the Capuchin Day Centre     (run by Brother Kevin) for distribution to those in need.     Thank you to everyone for their wonderful generosity.

Today Sunday 19th October is World Mission Sunday and the collection will replace the usual SHARE COLLECTION.   Pope Francis, in his message for Mission Sunday asks us to reflect on the joy Luke’s Gospel reveals.   The joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus.   Today, vast numbers of people still do not know Jesus Christ and for this reason mission continues to be most urgent.   The Church is missionary by nature and was born ‘to go forth’.   So our first task this Mission month of October is to proclaim the Gospel of Christ.

Adventures in Spirituality

The influence of cosmology and ecology on spirituality today at a time when the findings of science are confirming the intuitions of the mystics. The second in our series of talks will take place on Tuesday 28th October at 8.00pm in the Parish Centre. This month’s speaker is  Niamh Brennan, Writer and Workshop Facilitator who will speak on “Our emerging spirituality in the light of our evolving cosmic story”. Her new book is entitled “The human in the Universe”

We propose to hold six talks over the winter months. Later speakers will include Mary T Malone,  Theologian and Author and Sr. Miriam Lucas, Director of Luisne Centre for Spirituality.

Come along and see how religion and spirituality are a central  part of a much bigger picture.  All are welcome
