VINCENT DE PAUL:

The monthly collection for St. Vincent de Paul will be taken up after all masses next weekend.

Also distribution of bags for  “Clothing Appeal” this weekend 4th and 5th September and collection of bags next Sunday 12th September (morning masses only)

 

ANNUAL SERVITE PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK

SATURDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2010

Dear friends and fellow parishioners.   A coach has been booked for above event. Cost per seat €20.00.  We will gather in Church Car Park at 7.50 a.m. and depart at 8.00 a.m. sharp.   There will be a  “coffee and scone” stop at the Percy French Hotel in Strokestown on route, cost €3.80 per person.    We will continue on to the Shrine at Knock where there will be time for Confession, Stations of the Cross etc. before the Concelebration of the Eucharist at 3.00 p.m.    We will depart Knock at 5.00 p.m. and once again stop at the Percy French for our evening meal and tea or coffee – cost  €13.50 per person.    Anyone interested in going please leave your name, telephone number and €20 in an envelope in the Parish Office. Lets make this a great Parish day out.   Please book early to avoid disappointment.    Blessings on you all.

PARISH COUNCIL:

Our Marley Parish Pastoral Council met for the 1st time after the summer break on Thursday night.   We spent time looking at hopes and expectations for the coming year as well as welcoming new members Nalini McPartland and Patrick Pentony.   We also gave thanks for the contribution of Geraldine O’Keeffe and Paddy White whose three years of service on Pastoral Council ended in June.   We also toasted the recent engagement of Anne McGrath and Gerald Murphy.

 

 

BIBLE   STUDY   GROUP

Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group

The Monday morning Bridge Club resumes this Monday 6th Sept. – New members always welcome and the Parent and Toddler Group recommences on Thursday next 9th September 10.00 – 12.00 noon and we would like to welcome back our Saturday evening 6.00 p.m. choir who resumed Saturday 28th August after their summer break.

 

Wishing Barbara Goff Prioress, Chris Ward Secretary, Gertie Foley Treasurer and Marley Servite Secular Order all the best for the coming year.

HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE:

A planning meeting will take place on Tuesday 21st September at 8.00 p.m. in the parish centre.   A representative of “Map Travel” will give input on the evening and anyone interested in travelling are very welcome.  Eamon Lawlor is our parish pilgrimage organiser and can be contacted at 087 2332936

We give thanks for the life of the actor Mick Lally (Miley) for all the joy he brought to programmes like Bracken and Glenroe.   We also remember his visits to Marley in support of Bothar long years ago.

We pray for Sr. Veronica Montgomery (Divine Word School)  whose mam died during the past week

 

VANDALISM:

There has been some serious vandalism in recent weeks in the Garden area of the Church – a broken light, broken tree branches, stone throwing at windows of houses in Eden and on Church roof and pathways.    Could we ask you to be vigilant and whoever is doing this to stop.

SPORT – ALL IRELAND HURLING FINAL

It’s a long way to Tipperary!!!! But hopefully, the Liam McCarthy Cup will be on its way there by 5 o’clock on Sunday evening!! At the expense of Kilkenny……Cats!!!– and to the Kilkenny supporters here to-day – 5th All Ireland title  in a row – go for it !!!   May the best team win!!!
