Who are we: Parish of the Divine Word Funeral Support Team
Our Mission Statement: The objective of the Funeral Group is to work in the preparation and organisation of funerals in the parish.
How Do We Operate and What Do We Do: Meetings are held once every month from September to June.
The main activities of the group are visiting the homes of the bereaved, helping the bereaved in planning the funeral liturgy, assisting at the removal and also at the reception of the body at the Church and at the Funeral Mass. The group also organise a yearly Remembrance Service in November. In 2007 the group completed a Funeral Booklet to assist the bereaved in preparing for funeral liturgies. To date the group members have attended a number of training sessions, both at parish level, in the Irish Hospice Foundation and in Clonliffe College.
The group commenced in 2002 with five members. Since then the number has increased to nine, with new members always welcome. Should you wish to join the Funeral Team, please contact the Parish office. |
